Got an award one day at UCLA and had to walk past them with both my parents, my dad who's just shrugging because god knows HE SO DOES NOT WANT to get into a convo about abortion with ME and my mother who was all religious (still is) and didn't want an abortion back in the day (i.e. ME)...so we of course stop at the table so my mom can sign their petition.

I'm like "no thanks" when they paw at me, the chick's like "are you for the death of little babies?" I'm like, "yes, actually".
The chick's all taken aback and then I'm like "well actually I once read this theory that a woman should be able to abort a baby up to TWO years after birth...and yeah, that seemed ok." [deadpan]

My mom starts laughing and so do I, my mom goes "Faith, you're really sick ya know?" and I turn to the lady as we leave, "It's just that some kids might have a better chance in another life, that's all..."

Of course I was getting an award for leadership so I'm not saying I wish I was aborted, but I am a firm believer that kids should be a blessing not a mistaken curse, cause THEY'RE THE ONES WHO GET TO LIVE IT OUT..not the parents. And then they in turn have kids who stand a good chance of getting mistreated...and the wonderful cycle of life goes on.

I see abortion as a women's and kid's right issue, but that really goes to my deepest belief that fetus/children do not suffer more than a momentary flash of confusion...vs. a whole lifetime of unwantedness and perhaps even worse, because I'm pretty sure that most people who don't want to have a baby, THEY REALY DON'T WANT TO BE PREGNANT, hence the abortion.

In this society a woman is often her children, there's an unspoken, spoken and even legal bond...and if a woman decides she'd rather not enter into that contract...that's a good thing.

Seneca Falls reminds me of a falling out I once had with a few harcore feminists at a college newsmag...they were discussing an issue's cover art. They hit on the great idea of showing the progression of feminism over the centuries. Swear to god they were like, "So we'll show 2 white women in old-fashioned dress staring out of a window and back at them are 2 people of color feminists smiling" I guess they were attempting to show that the world view of feminism is better than a localised activism.

Nah, they prolly weren't.
For real they couldn't get it thru their heads that the art could be a diss to all those WOMEN of color in old fashioned clothes, the ones WHO DID AND ALWAYS HAVE EXISTED...the multiple minority who's often the loudest of all because we damn well have to be...
I wonder...wouldn't it make more sense for women with slavery heritage to be stridently pro-choice? After so many years of enslavement and loss of that choice...I wonder.

Perhaps next time I speak with a worker in the Black Christian Industrial Complex I'll float the theory. "So if the white man was still raping us, wouldn't you want abortion as an option?"

Harsh, I know, but why don't we all take a few moments to remember the MANY women who might have pondered this question over the centuries.

The Television Critics Association fall press tour is underway, and here come the tidbits. Thus far, HBO has announced that the fourth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm will premiere on Sept. 25, and will be paired with Extras, the new comedy from The Office star and creator Ricky Gervais. Also, it was confirmed that The Sopranos' long, long-awaited new season will finally arrive in March 2006, and that Entourage has been renewed for a third season.
Big fan of the first season of Entourage, it was just one of those shows. Weird 30 min format, but commercial free and with the OH SO GODDAMN HOT Adrian Grenier. It's like Can He Just Become Famous Now?

Ninety pct of DVR users skip TV ads - new study

TV advertisers are facing a potential disaster as more consumers buy digital video recorders (DVRs), according to a new study, since about 90 percent of current users fast-forward through ads.

The trends are even more foreboding among the 18 to 34-year-old demographic most coveted by marketers, with 97 percent saying they skip ads all or almost all of the time.

"This has always been advertisers' biggest fear," said Sarah Wade, a London-based account manager for the French market research firm Ipsos, which carried out a survey of 4,000 British TV households.

A RECENT heart attack cost Marianne Faithfull a plum role in a new screen adaptation of Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray."

Faithfull — the razor-voiced rock goddess and style icon of '60s Britain — is doing fine, her friends say.

But according to prickly Brit filmmaker Duncan Roy, Faithfull, 58 — infamous for being Mick Jagger's one-time lover-muse and writer of the Rolling Stones' classic "As Tears Go By" — was forced to decline the role of the countess in the director's just-wrapped adaptation of Wilde's story, set in New York City.

"Marianne really wanted to do it but had to pull out at the last moment," Roy tells PAGE SIX. "[Her manager and boyfriend] Francoise Ravard told me she had a slight heart attack. She's fine now." Ravard did not return e-mails. Faithfull's William Morris agent was unable to reach her at press time.

The news comes on the heels of Faithfull's well-received album "After the Poison," [sic] a collaboration with performers like P.J. Harvey and Nick Cave. Faithfull, whose cigarette-charred pipes would give Harvey Fierstein pause, recently quit smoking.

The working-class-born Roy, famed for his experimental 2002 film "AKA" — based on his experiences infiltrating London's upper crust by posing as a young British lord — recast Nastassia Kinski in Faithfull's role.

David Gallagher, the 18-year-old star of TV's "7th Heaven," portrays bisexual Dorian Gray in the art-house flick, which earlier this year looked to be going head to head against another adaptation that pretty-boy actor Ryan Phillippe planned to produce, direct and play the lead in.

Roy, who publicly fought with Elizabeth Hurley on the set of his film "Method" — he now calls her "a [bleeping] bitch" — has equally unflattering words for Phillippe: "Who was going to believe that he's 18 years old?" (Phillippe is 31.)

Roy, who turned 40 on Friday, can rest easy. Asked about Phillippe's purported Wilde project, the actor's flack says, simply, "It went away." Enthuses Roy: "I've won the battle of the Dorian Grays!"

The cautionary tale of a hedonistic young man who never ages while a portrait of him grows older by the day was made into movies in 1945 and 1970.

"The film is sexually graphic. It's not rampant . . . but there is one very hot same-sex scene," says openly gay Roy. "We just put the 'gay' back into Dorian Gray."
